Obama Says 'Put the Politics Aside' After Election , But Raps GOP Leaders
President Obama said Americans want partisans on both sides to "put politics aside for a while" after the Nov. 2 elections and find "common ground" on measures that will help fix the economy. Yet, in his weekly address Saturday, he said he was troubled by recent comments from Republican leaders anticipating more power in Congress in 2011.
"Whatever the outcome on Tuesday," the president said, "we need to come together to help put people who are still looking for jobs back to work." But in appealing for unity, Obama said he was bothered by Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell's comment that "his main goal after this election is simply to win the next one," and House Minority Leader John Boehner declaring, "this is not the time for compromise." Boehner, after the remark cited by Obama, elaborated: "We will not compromise on our principles."

"It's a great life. You risk your skin catching killers and the juries turn them loose so they can come back and shoot at you again. If your honest , your poor your whole life. And , In the end , you wind up dying all alone on some dirty street. For what? For nothing. For a tin star."
Far from being a handicap to command, compassion is the measure of it. For unless one values the lives of his soldiers and is tormented by their ordeals , he is unfit to command.

I am not voting for people to come together. I want people that will fight that "Dude" tooth and nail.

I want the people I am voting for to act like winners, when they do win, and implement policies that I support! Forget reaching across the aisle and finding common ground. Common ground DID NOT get all of this crap passed (ie health care) and it won't get it overturned! What is shaping up to be a victory is a mandate against Obama, Pelosi, Reid, and the like. Boehner said it right the first time. Winners (should) articulate their positions and bring people to their side by standing on the principles that got them there.

To me this sounded like the political version of the kid who picked a fight crying "don't hurt me! when the tides turned. What's that smell? Hmm, anyway, the media will play along with "Hey, look, he was extending an olive branch even before the election, when he still had a majority congress and had no reason to other than his big friendly heart. Now those meanies are hammering on his policies? They're bullies!"
This tantalizing, ground breaking analysis (har!) was mostly just an excuse to link to a vid I found amusing
When, since the first day of this federal republic's representation of the many States, has politics taken a day off? Such a tired refrain, and yet still rallies people somehow. Bizarre. Anyhow, I still need to figure out which way to vote on the District 3 County Board race. My vote counts more there this particular Tuesday.

I am a failure!
Much to my chagrin, I am a failure as a husband and father. Though I have spent years impressing morals, honesty and values on my wife and children, I have failed. They are all liberals. The shame is overwhelming.
For the morning will come. Brightly will it shine on the brave and true, kindly upon all who suffer for the cause, glorious upon the tombs of heroes. Thus will shine the dawn.
