No sooner had a state commission voted to take away her taxpayer-financed vehicle, replacing it with a flat $300-a-month payment for driving her own car, than state Sen. Noreen Evans, D-Santa Rosa, was on Twitter complaining about the raw deal.

Under the old rules tossed out by the Citizens Compensation Commission, lawmakers were compensated for gasoline, as well as insurance and repairs. Now, they will get $300 a month.

It is not unusual to pay even more than $4 a gallon in small rural towns in her district. In the town of Mendocino, for example, Evans said she recently paid more than $5 a gallon.
As if the rest of us don't have to pay for fuel out of our pocket

Legislators currently are paid $95,291 per year, plus $142 per day in per diem for living expenses while they are in Sacramento.
Wish I made that much plus per diem, plus the $300 vehicle expense
