President Obama releases his birth certificate to the media

The White House released President Obama's original birth certificate Wednesday. The surprise release follows recent and sustained remarks by businessman Donald Trump, among others, that raised doubts as to whether the president was born in the United States.

In all honesty -- a good forgery could have been made in a few days. But this whole damn thing has been blown out of proportion -- and I guarantee that there will be more than a few folks who refuse to be convinced.

It's a very simple procedure to get the documents which came in just a few weeks, and Obama has no excuse for not doing this years ago.

I'm actually glad it's done and I hope this puts to bed all the conspiracy theories which distract from the real issue of his horrible performance.

The president says that he has been "bemused" by all whirlwind of controversy that this minor issue has caused. After 2 million in legal expenses, how could that be "bemusing?" Well, perhaps if you didn't have to actually pay it yourself.

When my kid goes to the DMV to get their driver's license, I was required to bring their long-form birth certificate. I did so. I didn't sit "bemused" or pay millions of dollars in legal fees to fight the requirement; but then again, I didn't have anything to hide, either.

Truth is, we have very little idea exactly who this president is. We know he talks a good game, we know he was groomed for the job by someone with serious money, and we know that his past is littered with close relationships with radicals. We also know that he has emburdened the American taxpayer with more debt, greater government control, and fatter bureacracy than perhaps any president since FDR.

I have to agree with Xiphos. Performance is perhaps the issue we should most concentrate on. I do, however believe that at some point in our future we will realize that perhaps the greatest fraud ever perpetrated against the U.S. was the Obama presidency.

Getting an official document IS easy. It's just NOT a "birth certificate." The official title is "Certification of the Report of the Birth Abroad" or something like that. (Not running upstairs to look right now.)

Obama could have ended this ages ago. He chose not to. Now, John Batchelor last night pointed something out: In the hoopla around the birth certificate, some other news got buried. Like some major shakeups in the national security structure. General Patreaus is apparently going to retire from the Army, and take up the post as Director of Central Intelligence, and Leon Panetta will be moving to Secretary of Defense. There was also something about Pakistan preparing to align with China...

H'mmm... could Obama have released his birth certificate to distract from other things? What wasn't covered while Obama finally put out his birth certificate?

The GOP field is really disappointing right now. I see nobody that can beat Obama yet. Things may change in the next year but when the most charismatic and outspoken opponent of Obama is Donald Trump, we are in trouble.

Coming from Hawaii that so-called document comes from the same credible political machine that reelected Democrat candidate Patsy Mink to the US house 4 weeks after she died in 2002. The dead not only vote, they get re-elected too.

I believe the above named certificate as much as I believe the submarine missle launch off LAX last Nov 8th was an inbound airliner.
