How does the prebate work?

All valid Social Security cardholders who are U.S. residents receive a monthly prebate equivalent to the FairTax paid on essential goods and services, also known as the poverty level expenditures. The prebate is paid in advance, in equal installments each month. The size of the prebate is determined by the Department of Health & Human Services’ poverty level guideline multiplied by the tax rate. This is a well-accepted, long-used poverty-level calculation that includes food, clothing, shelter, transportation, medical care, etc. See chart in Figure 1 below.

I don't think you'll get the fight here you're looking for. I think there's some legitimate curiosity, and maybe some trepidation but I don't pick up any outright rejection. Hopefully they'll read the book.

I've already bought the book for people that expressed an genuine interest. By the way, all proceeds from "The Fair Tax Book" go to charity.

It's an inexpensive paperback that's a fast read.

I was a Flat Tax fan before reading that book.

Very true. I'm a reader but seriously it took me one night to read a book on taxes. My wife is not a political type....took her two.

About a 5-6 hour read, nutrient dense, but doesn't bog down in figures. Of course I'd prefer to see it done at the state level rather than nationally, but I lost that argument in 1865.

Kinda sounds like socialism to me...:crazy:

It would be granting liberty to the people and shutterng the IRS, it's the opposite of socialism.

I hope he doesn't talk about a tax CUT. The last time he did (when he extended the Bush Tax Cut) cost me $120.00 a month in HIGHER TAXES. Can't afford another tax cut like thisl.

Some of the welfare dependent that I witness have $1800 on their ebt card. They make a large purchase and sell it on a street corner so they can buy their smokes and alcohol.

When W did his tax cuts I got to keep more of my money. This argument that only the rich got breaks is flawed.
