I know but I really am trying to simplify this and not recreate the wheel here. The basic fact is that there is a mechanism to insure nobody will pay taxes on basic necessities.

Roger, it is called the prebate. It is a work of genius by the way. Disciplined people will use it to replace and outperform Social Security.

How does the prebate work?

All valid Social Security cardholders who are U.S. residents receive a monthly prebate equivalent to the FairTax paid on essential goods and services, also known as the poverty level expenditures. The prebate is paid in advance, in equal installments each month. The size of the prebate is determined by the Department of Health & Human Services’ poverty level guideline multiplied by the tax rate. This is a well-accepted, long-used poverty-level calculation that includes food, clothing, shelter, transportation, medical care, etc. See chart in Figure 1 below.

I don't think you'll get the fight here you're looking for. I think there's some legitimate curiosity, and maybe some trepidation but I don't pick up any outright rejection. Hopefully they'll read the book.

I've already bought the book for people that expressed an genuine interest. By the way, all proceeds from "The Fair Tax Book" go to charity.

Very true. I'm a reader but seriously it took me one night to read a book on taxes. My wife is not a political type....took her two.

About a 5-6 hour read, nutrient dense, but doesn't bog down in figures. Of course I'd prefer to see it done at the state level rather than nationally, but I lost that argument in 1865.

The idiots in this Administration say that Welfare is good for th economy as it stimulates spending (by the welfare recipients) at stores, etc.

That's the same as saying that crime is good for the economy because it stimulates spending by those purchasing burglar alarms, hiring more police and prison guards and spending by the victims to replace the stuff stolen, thus allowing companies to make and sell more products.

They must have emptied the asylum when they hired these idiots to run this once great country.

Some of the welfare dependent that I witness have $1800 on their ebt card. They make a large purchase and sell it on a street corner so they can buy their smokes and alcohol.
