expecting trouble?" "No Ma'am. If I were expecting trouble, I would have
brought my rifle."

The trouble with our liberal friends is not that they are ignorant,
it is just that they know so much that isn't so.

Since one of the two government entities you mentioned is in control of it now, but refuses to enforce the law? Laws, by the way, that the heads of agencies and elected officials swore an oath to enforce. We are quickly moving away from a country based on the rule of law and toward a country based on politics, political considerations, and elections from a party perspective. Fold up my tin foil hat if you wish, but that is the beginning of the end of the Republic.
The feds should enforce the national borders. The state should be able to enforce who is allowed in their sovereign territories.

Depends if it is a presidential election year or not.

"It's a great life. You risk your skin catching killers and the juries turn them loose so they can come back and shoot at you again. If your honest , your poor your whole life. And , In the end , you wind up dying all alone on some dirty street. For what? For nothing. For a tin star."
Far from being a handicap to command, compassion is the measure of it. For unless one values the lives of his soldiers and is tormented by their ordeals , he is unfit to command.

I wish. Unfortunately, it doesn't even matter what party is in control on this issue. To quote George Washington's farewell address:
“However [political parties] may now and then answer popular ends, they are likely in the course of time and things, to become potent engines, by which cunning, ambitious, and unprincipled men will be enabled to subvert the power of the people and to usurp for themselves the reins of government, destroying afterwards the very engines which have lifted them to unjust dominion.”

I think the military should be charged with the task of defending our Nation. Give them the equipment and the OK to use it. I bet our military can handle the border just fine. It would be nice to see the military used for national defense as it was designed.
PS, I will enforce my own rules on my property.

I'm all for small government as far as the feds go, and more power to the individual states. The military could get a handle on the border situation in about a week, I'd bet on it. This should be priority #1 in my opinion. Cornfed, I couldn't agree with you more... I too will enforce my own rules on my property.
