Park Service allows immigration rally on 'closed' National Mall
(CNN) - Despite the closure of the National Mall and monuments during the partial government shutdown, immigration advocates are holding a rally and concert. And some conservatives are crying foul.
The protestors, who are holding a march in favor of comprehensive immigration reform Tuesday, which is stalled in a stalemated Congress, are allowed to rally on the closed mall under their First Amendment rights, the National Park Service told CNN.
"Under the same First Amendment rights that are allowing Honor Flight veterans and their families to visit the veterans memorials on the National Mall, other groups will be granted access to the park for First amendement activities," spokesman Michael Litterst said.
Conservative groups have voiced outrage that the rally is allowed to take place. They said there is a double standard as veterans were locked out of the World War II Memorial last week after the government shutdown.

It's official, "our" government has absolutely lost their collective minds. Nothing said or done for closing a memorial depicting the sacrifice of surviving, killed, maimed and missing veterans, not even an apology but a rally for illegal immigrants is just fine. There is nothing this group of misfits can do or say to make me think positive about "our" government anymore. So much for checks and balances. If there are any politicians in there that actually give a shit they are too few and far between to do any good. These assholes are just doing whatever they please and "We the People" are powerless to stop them. It's downhill in a hurricane from here folks. Even an entirely newly elected government would be forever trying to straighten this mess out.Do not war for peace. If you must war, war for justice. For without justice there is no peace. -me

"It's a great life. You risk your skin catching killers and the juries turn them loose so they can come back and shoot at you again. If your honest , your poor your whole life. And , In the end , you wind up dying all alone on some dirty street. For what? For nothing. For a tin star."
Far from being a handicap to command, compassion is the measure of it. For unless one values the lives of his soldiers and is tormented by their ordeals , he is unfit to command.

I wonder if those Officers took the oath to "Protect and Defend the Constitution" or to screw over the public to enhance to themselves with Obama and his Chicago thugs. If I was told (as has been reported) to screw over the public on those phony "closures" I think I would politely them to screw off and head to my Lawyer and the press. The park police even gave a jogger a $100.00 ticket for jogging on a road at Gettysburg . I say a Pox on all them SOBs.

This is why the only people sad about the government shutdown are those employed by it.
If they aren't "essential" why are we employing them with the government? Those who are essential but not being paid need to leave for better employment. What if Obama shut down a park and nobody was there to do it?Pleasing nobody, one person at a time.

What if there was a park, a nature reserve even, that was untouched by man?
Only allowed in if you have a park pass and go through the manned gate. Wait, how'd it go untouched for the previous 175,000~2,000,000 years (depending on your anthropologist of choice)? It really couldn't survive a week now? Either a damning statement on humanity today vs every other time in history and before...
or demands a little perspective.
