TASER International, a leading provider of technology solutions and the market leader in electronic control devices (ECDs), has announced the release of their long-awaited self-contained wireless TASER eXtended Range Electronic Projectile, the XREP. It has a maximum range of 100 feet, roughly twice the effective range of any other less-lethal munition option on the market.

The XREP comes in two versions. The XREP FL, capable of being fired by any 12-gauge smoothbore pump shotgun, uses fins to stabilize the round, and the XREP RL, designed for a special new delivery device, is a rifled round.  Full specifications can be found in a PDF at this link.

In an historic collaboration with O.F. Mossberg & Sons, a leader in the design and manufacture of shotguns, the new TASER XREP RL will be fired by the Mossberg X12 LLS, developed especially for this groundbreaking new technology. Patterned after the widely-acclaimed Mossberg Model 500 pump, the X12 can only fire the TASER XREP RL round, eliminating any chance of inadvertent deployment of lethal munitions.
