Every year Concerns of Police Survivors (C.O.P.S.) hosts a week-long camp for children ages 6-14, a wilderness experience for teens ages 15-20, and weekend retreats for adult children, siblings, spouses, in-laws, and parents of law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty. In fall of 2010, C.O.P.S. will host an inaugural affected co-workers retreat.
"C.O.P.S retreats help you see that life can get better and that moving on does not mean forgetting. C.O.P.S understands the sacrifice your officer went through and helps you keep their memory alive." - Melanie Teagan, surviving spouse of Lt. Delmar Teagan, Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, End of Watch 4/13/2007
In 2009, 649 survivors attended C.O.P.S. Hands-On Programs. The average cost was $592 per person. All programs provided to the survivors by C.O.P.S. are free of charge; the price paid is already too high.
