Police Chief Marcos Garcia and Officer Raymundo Sanchez were immediately confronted by offenders buzzing all around them when they arrived at a home in Lyford, Texas, in late July. The officers were dispatched to a call involving a disabled man in distress. They found him on the ground with only a towel for defense against a marauding swarm of bees. Undeterred, the officers moved as quickly as possible to transfer the man to their vehicle and transport him to a hospital. According to WBNG News, the man sustained at least 30 stings, while Chief Garcia racked up 18 stings. The offending insects remain at large.
