It’s unclear when so many people decided to go “full- Tyson/Tony Montana” and purchase big cats like tigers and lions to keep as pets. In Nevada recently, a woman was arrested after Nye County deputies found three tigers loose in a back- yard. Not to worry – there was a very flimsy four-foot fence that was somehow supposed to keep the powerful preda- tors contained. I mean tigers can’t jump that high, can they? The Nye County Sher- iff’s Office says one Trisha Meyer called dispatch to ask about getting a permit to have tigers within county lines. It was unclear if she was moving to the area from Texas where she previously resided. Las Vegas Animal Control contacted Nye County’s Animal Control to report Meyer might be on the road with three tigers in a U-Haul trailer. Deputies also learned Meyer had a felony arrest warrant from Harris County, Texas. Nye County Animal Control visited Myers later and saw no tigers. Authorities told her it was illegal for any special ani- mals to be brought into the county without a permit. She didn’t listen. Someone eventually called the sheriff’s office and said there were three tigers in the backyard of a home. Deputies arrived later that day after confirming the felony warrant from Texas, and found the three tigers eating raw chicken. Myers also had eight mon- keys that were found inside the house without any per- mits. Myers was arrested on the Texas warrant, and the tigers were taken into protective custody. Wildlife
