In a related story, DHS computers were recently hacked. It turns out it’s a really big deal if you’re a UFO enthusiast. Footage from the leaked DHS video shows a UFO rising from the sea, moving in a very unusual way and eventually splitting in half. Like a lot of UFOs that have been captured on video in recent years, the object appears to tumble, change shape and even “morph” into something else. The Scientific Coalition for Ufology (SCU) has confirmed that the video was, indeed, that of the Department of Homeland Security. The video was leaked by a DHS whistleblower, who does not wish to be identified. Maybe put that guy on the cyber security squad? It’s just a thought. According to multiple news reports, a Miami Beach police officer has contracted the Zika virus. The unidentified officer has worked at the agency for more than 20 years. The officer was assigned to the department’s motor- cycle unit, which means he was outdoors a lot; but it’s unclear where he contracted the disease. The officer started show- ing symptoms like body aches and he decided to get tested for Zika. He’s now the second cop from the Miami Beach Po- lice Department to contract the virus. Sgt. Michelle Sayegh has worked with the department for 12 years. She’s the other officer that contracted the disease. She spoke with Local 10 News earlier this month. “I had real bad body aches,” she said. “I felt like a train hit me. I had muscle pain that was unbearable.” Initially, like a lot of her fellow officers, she tried to tough it out. She chalked up the aches and pains to stress or some illness. But news reports about Zika made her think twice and luckily she got tested. Sayegh works patrol in an area known locally as the “Zika zone.” She said she’s lost at least 20 pounds since contracting the virus. The pain also forced her to give up running. Zika Virus hits two officers Being a cop’s tough. Being a female cop can be even tougher. Especially if you get pregnant. According to multiple media reports, two Northern Kentucky police officers recently prevailed after a lengthy discrimination law- suit made it all the way to the Department of Justice. Florence Police Officers Lyndi Trischler and Sa- mantha Riley were denied light-duty requests in 2014 because of their pregnan- cies. Both were required to take a combination of paid and unpaid leave, according to a Justice Department com- plaint. DOJ now says an agree- ment has been reached, pending U.S. District Court approval, which will create new policies for pregnant employees and as well as employees with disabilities in Florence. The women will also split a $135,000 payout. This was Trischler’s sec- ond pregnancy. She never thought she’d have a problem because the brass gave her a desk job during her first pregnancy in December 2012. However, by April of 2013, the city had changed its policy on light duty to exclude pregnancy. Trischler was forced to take leave, of which a “sub- stantial portion” was unpaid, according to the complaint when she was in her 23rd week. “No woman should ever have to choose between having a family and earn- ing a salary,” Deputy As- sistant Attorney General Vanita Gupta, the head of the Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division, said in a news release. “Equally important, in- dividuals with disabilities who need reasonable ac- commodations deserve an opportunity to keep their jobs.” In addition to creating new policies, the city will also be monitored by DOJ for three years if the settle- ment is approved.
