Authorities said a person described only as a male was pronounced dead at the scene, while two of the male stabbing victims have critical injuries. A third victim was in fair condition. ROBYN BECK/AFP/Getty Images) B elieve it or not, po- lice have a lot of credibility. That’s one of the reasons that some people say they think UFOs might be real. Its not they saw one per- sonally. But they saw a TV show once where a cop said he saw one on duty. When it comes to officers and what people are calling “fake news,” law enforce- ment professionals already have valuable experience as far as straightening people out on what’s what. Here’s just one story. In Texas recently, a poli- tician made some wild claims. Texas Agricultural Commissioner Sid Miller said a “hunting party” was set upon and violently as- saulted by a group of illegal immigrants. Miller said the attack was a good reason to “build that wall,” on Facebook. Like most lies on Facebook, this one took off with blind- ing speed and went viral. But at least some of us, regardless of our worldview and political leanings, are getting a little pissed off about all the nonsense. Danny Dominguez is the sheriff of Presidio County where the “attack” was al- leged to have occurred. Dominguez is not a guy you want to mess with. “The agriculture commis- sioner needs to do his job and stick to that, and I’ll do my job. You tell him I said that,” Dominguez said. Sheriff Dominguez says the hunters, as in some other high profile accidents involv- ing politicians, rifles and usually alcohol, actually fired on each other with several factors contributing to the friendly fire. Anyway, it’s nice to know that there are still some brave souls out there that will call a lie a lie.
