(Photo by Joe Scarnici/Getty Images) Threats to cops’ lives lead to arrests A c c o r d i n g t o multiple media reports, a man hell-bent on kill- ing public officials and gay police officers in New York City has been arrested and faces multiple felony counts. Authorities say 26-year- old Daniel Silvera threat- ened to rape a New York City Council speaker, kill her family and kill all the city’s gay police officers. Silvera was arraigned in a Manhattan criminal court on several charges includ- ing aggravated harassment as a hate crime. Threatening emails were sent to City Council Speak- er Melissa Mark-Viverito and two police officers who serve in LGBT outreach positions. Here’s the scary part – the emails suggested that Silvera knew where his targets lived.
