With everyone’s health and safety being a top priority, public gatherings in Washington, D.C. for National Police Week 2020 have been cancelled. However, that’s not stopping the National Law Enforcement Memorial and Museum from continuing one of its premier traditions— the Candlelight Vigil, which will honor the fallen officers of 2019. The event will be done virtually, with plans for a live reading once it’s safe for the public to gather.
“You have our commitment that the fallen will not be forgotten, and we will not rest until they receive the honor that they so rightfully deserve,” National Law Enforcement Memorial and Museum CEO Marcia Ferranto said in a statement. “We extend our heartfelt thanks to our active law enforcement officers who continue to risk their own health and wellbeing for the safety and wellness of others.”
