Preparations for the upcoming Republican National Convention in Cleveland, Ohio, are not going smoothly.
Stuff hasn’t arrived. Training is lacking. The riot gear doesn’t fit.
It’s not much better in Philadelphia, where police will be helping handle the Democratic National Convention.
With just a few weeks left to go, it just doesn’t seem like people are ready.
What’s to be done?
No one seems to have any good answers.
One might think that 15 years after 9/11, with trillions wasted on homeland security spending, we might at least be able to get gear to police officers at agencies working national events ahead of time.
But one would be extremely wrong about that.
