If you’re a cop in Texas, you might want to be prepared for the big mass shooting drills coming up.
The exercises aren’t going to be conducted by law enforcement but rather gun-rights activists.
The first one didn’t go very well.
According to the New York Daily News:
“University of Texas officials disarmed a pair of pro-gun groups Wednesday—shooting down their plan to stage a mock mass murder at the Austin campus this weekend.
The controversial Saturday event, replete with cardboard handguns and fake blood, was planned by the groups Come and Take It Texas, and DontComply.com to oppose campus “gun free zones.”
One of the important things to remember about encouraging the citizenry to “go tactical” is that there are plenty of people chomping at the bit to take action of some type.
It’s not extremely difficult to imagine a poorly planned mass shooting drill at a college staged by civilians going slightly awry—especially considering the likely response of individuals with concealed carry licenses.
Oh, yeah… and law enforcement too.
