People love police protection.
They’re just increasingly unwilling to pay for it through taxes.
And we’re not talking about tax increases here— we’re talking about cuts to existing tax rates that make it possible for local law enforcement agencies to operate.
The problem is especially severe in the Western United States and in more rural communities.
The fact is, many smaller agencies are shutting down altogether.
Some of the ones still up and running are covering areas so large that it makes the idea of calling 911 a cruel joke.
