Do you feel like your “S.O.” might be screwing around?
Well, there’s a mattress company in Spain that has an app for that.
They’re calling it the “lover detection system.”
This seemed like a fake story (which are everywhere and growing in number by the day, so be careful), so we had to check it out.
Durmet has a slick website, an app in the Google Store and one pending for iOS devices. It also has a bizarre video warning of the “global infidelity crisis.”
That might be over the top in terms of a sales pitch but people are already talking about the mattress and the app.
Here’s how it works: There are a series of ultrasonic sensors embedded in the springs of the mattress. The sensors detect the speed and intensity of motion, how long the mattress has been active, and the patterns of encounters.
Suspicious spouses and paramours can see what’s happening in their bed in real time on their phones or mobile devices and receive “infidelity alerts.”
On the other hand, if your husband or wife happens to be wrestling with the dog on the bed and you come home outraged, you’re likely to look pretty dumb.
But when you think about it, the very concept of a smart mattress is pretty stupid, too.
