VIDEO: The Guardian

The Golden Gate Bridge is an iconic landmark of San Francisco and, tragically, one of the most popular places in the world to commit suicide. Few know this better than Kevin Briggs, a sergeant with the California Highway Patrol, who has talked hundreds of people out of jumping. The video won the 2013 Edward R. Murrow Award for Feature Reporting.

Update: In May 2013, Sgt. Briggs met Kevin Berthia, who he saved on the bridge eight years ago and whose story is profiled in the video. Read about their reunion here and watch more inspirational videos at Yahoo Screen.
