The Bath Township, Michigan, Police Department recently put out a special one-time offer to residents that may have been just a little too good to be true. The department took to Facebook to announce that it would be giving away prized “Get Out of Jail Free” cards; however, there was one small catch. They could only be redeemed on February 30.
The “offer” read, “It’s that time of year again! Time to stop by and get one of our get out of jail free cards. These cards are only available February 30th at our police department front desk. They can be used for a one-time-only get out of jail free. Just give it to your arresting officer and they have no choice but to let you go. No questions asked. Come get them while they’re hot!”
Picking up on the joke that February 30 is, of course, not a real date, many on Facebook joined in on the fun with witty comments. “Does this apply at any police department in the U.S.?” asked one hopeful commenter. “I’m in central Florida and have a heavy foot.” The cheeky post went viral, receiving more than 3,500 likes and 450 shares.
