Rapper Rick Ross showed his support for the law enforcement community by buying lunch for a captain of a metro Atlanta police department.
The South Fulton Police Department, located in College Park outside the city of Atlanta, released a Facebook post stating that the rapper bought a Subway lunch for Captain R. McCain.
The department included a photo of the meeting depicting the captain posing with Ross in his police car as he monitored activity on the Old National Highway.
“We need more like him,” the post read. “Thanks to the BOSS Rick Ross!”
According to the post, Ross said that “no police officer will have to buy lunch if he is around.”
According to Atlanta police data, homicides and rapes are up 43% and 236%, respectively, compared to the same time last year, while other violent crimes like aggravated assault are down.
“We arrest them, and we will take them to jail, but that isn’t enough,” APD wrote in a statement in early February. “The entire criminal justice system and the community must work together for change to occur.”
Hopefully, the rapper’s act of kindness will go a long way to repairing relations between Atlanta law enforcement and the community.
Ross currently lives in Fayetteville, Georgia.
