A Georgia police officer did a good deed this winter after providing shelter and a warm meal to a homeless man during the severe cold snap.
Cobb County Police Department Officer Withers noticed the homeless man in the cold and decided to pay for his hotel room and meal with money out of his own pocket.
“This act of service warmed the hearts of us all. Great job, Officer Withers, for your heartfelt act of service,” the Cobb County Police Department wrote in a Facebook post.
In Georgia, temperatures fell from just above freezing before midnight to the teens in the early hours on December 23.
Georgia, like much of the county, is grappling with extreme low temperatures this winter. Many locales have reported record-lows this Christmas.
Cobb County is located in the Atlanta Metropolitan area in the northcentral region of the state.
