Police in Anchorage, Alaska, gave a pig named after the “King of Rock ‘n’ Roll” a ride home recently after a concerned citizen spotted the animal on the side of the road and said “it looked cold.”
According to a Facebook post by the Anchorage P.D., Elvis Pigsley had escaped from his owner in Fairview and was wandering around in the cold when someone called 9-1-1 on him.
“We’re all familiar with refrigerated bacon, we just never thought we’d respond to a call for service related to that topic,” the department joked.
The pig then got a special police escort back to his living quarters.
“As it turns out, the portly dude was quite friendly. You’ll be happy to know he has been reunited with his family and all is well,” the department reported.
A photo posted to the department’s Facebook shows Elvis in the back seat of a police cruiser before heading home.
According to the department, this wasn’t the first time they had to pick up a mischief-making animal.
“Just shy of a year ago we responded to a call about a turkey trying to enter a convenience store. We showed up and found an actual Gobble Gobble attempting to finagle his way into the mart at a local gas station. After that adventure, you’d think not much would surprise us. And then yesterday happened,” the department shared.
Elvis’ owner, Angela Mullen-Herrera, later told police that the pig has “gone on all sorts of adventures. He’s a big escape artist. I’ve had to lure him back with apple slices before,” per The Dodo.
