(Photo by Eduardo Munoz Alvarez/Getty Images) In Australia, where ev- erything is deadly from the gators to the snakes to the jellyfish, the koala stands alone as one local wildlife species that probably won’t kill and eat you. Koalas are about as cute as cute gets, and appar- ently someone was trying to smuggle one home. Australian authorities were checking a woman’s bags at a customs station recently when they asked her if she had anything to declare. The woman didn’t say anything but she did hand officers a green canvas bag, the contents of which ap- peared to be moving. Police unzipped the bag and they found a baby koala inside. The woman told police she found the creature on a road somewhere and was trying to nurse the little guy back to health. Koalas are an endangered and protected species in Oz and a koala group showed up to collect the fuzzy little bugger. The koala, believed to be about six months of age, is in good health, but was a little dehydrated. They named him Alfred. Koala smuggler gets nabbed by Oz-ciffers Thanks a ton fellas! That crazy lady had me in there with a bunch of nail polish and nasty perfume . . .
