American Police Beat: January 2018 13 It’s never that hard to figure out who’s had a few too many at the stadium. And sometimes there’s a good reason for that – the kid comes from a whole family of disappointments. What else can you say about the mother/son team recently arrested after an armed robbery of a taco joint in upstate New York? For the record, the mother was the wheel- man. Or wheelmom, or something. According to a report from the New York Post, Orchard Park Police say a 30-year-old man entered a Mighty Taco restau- rant around 2AM on a recent Sunday. He had a gun and de- manded the contents of the cash register armed with a gun and demanded cash from the register. So far so good. But this is not exactly a capable crew. Police say the son ran out of the joint with the loot and hopped into a waiting van. It’s unclear if cops were responding to the call about the robbery, but just moments after the van left the parking lot, officers stopped the vehicle. The robber was in the passenger seat. The moth- er, 56, was behind the wheel. Both have been charged with robbery and criminal possession of stolen property. The son’s still locked up, but Mom was home for the holidays after posting bail. ★ The apple rarely, if ever, falls far from the tree © 2018 Streamlight Inc.
