A Tennessee police officer went viral on TikTok after he helped an 84-year-old woman get to her hair appointment.
Officer Lance Hofmeister with the Murfreesboro Police Department was driving down the highway when he noticed an elderly woman with a walker making her way down the highway. The odd sighting prompted him to stop and check if she was OK.
“I was driving down Old Fort Parkway and noticed what appeared to be a senior citizen walking down the highway with her walker,” he recalled. The officer said he was concerned for her and didn’t know if she needed help, so he stopped.
The woman, Elizabeth Goode, told Hofmeister she had just taken a bus from Nashville and was on her way to a hair appointment at the Paul Mitchell Hair School a mile away.
“She was very bright. She was very sweet, and she said she was just trying to get to her hair appointment,” the officer said.
Hofmeister then offered her a ride, and the two had a conversation on their way.
“She’s such a sweet soul, and she told me a couple stories along the way. That was just a great moment,” the officer said.
“I lost my grandmother a couple of years back, and it just gave me that feeling all over again of just the sincere nostalgic — it was a great feeling,” Hofmeister continued.
The good deed was captured on police body camera and dashcam footage and later posted to TikTok, where it went viral, attracting over 160,000 views.
“It was definitely a sweet moment, and I’ll always remember it,” Hofmeister said.
The City of Murfreesboro posted the video on its Facebook account, calling it “community policing at its best.”
