The Ohio State Highway Patrol posted a video on Facebook recently praising Trooper Alec Kalis for bravely rescuing a family’s dog at the Ohio State Fairgrounds.
Kalis noticed fairgoers setting up a ladder in an attempt to rescue the dog, Miley, from above a bridge. He immediately offered his assistance to the family by climbing the ladder onto the tracks and taking the time to search for the dog on the railroad tracks.
Kalis enticed the dog with some potato chips and reunited Miley with her family. The trooper took a moment to pose for a picture with the grateful family in the end.
“Troopers are always ready for the unexpected, and Trooper Kalis was glad he was able to assist with reuniting Miley and her family,” the department said on Facebook.
Kalis graduated two years ago from the 168th Academy Class after 30 weeks of intense training.
