Pueblo police Sgt. Bowen challenged a man to a dance-off in a parking lot outside of a downtown convenience store at 1 a.m. in order to get him to leave the area.
Bowen initially responded to a call for assistance from a fellow police officer to deal with the uncooperative, loitering man.
According to the Pueblo Police Department Facebook page, the man refused to leave and “for some reason just began dancing.” Body cam footage was posted of the dance-off.
Bowen – coincidentally a contest in the 2018 “Dancing with the Pueblo Starz” competition – came up with the idea to challenge the man to a dance-off.
He said, “Look, if I beat you in a dance contest, will you leave?”
The man agreed, and both began busting out their moves. Police said it was clear who the better dancer was.
“When Sgt. Bowen was done, the man just walked away. He knew that the scene belonged to a superior dancer,” the post read.
To give credit to Bowen, that’s one creative way to get someone to leave.
