Massachusetts State Trooper Jose Cabrera was on patrol when he saw a vehicle speed by at over 100 miles per hour on Route 91.
When he stopped the driver, the man told him he was driving his pregnant girlfriend to the hospital, and it was an emergency. He explained that his girlfriend’s water broke and she was about to have the baby.
According to a Facebook post by the MSP, Cabrera immediately called in for an ambulance and tried to keep the woman calm.
After finding that the ambulances in the area were busy with active calls, Cabrera decided to escort the woman to the hospital in his own cruiser while the father followed behind.
After making it to Mercy Hospital, the woman shortly after delivered the child – a healthy baby boy. The mother and Cabrera later posed for a photo showing the officer holding the infant he played a crucial role in delivering.
No doubt the mother will have an interesting story to tell for the future.
The post generated around 15,000 likes, with many commenters congratulating the mother and thanking the officer for his dedicated work.
“Great story! Love our Police Officers! Congrats to the Fam!” Kelly Diaz wrote.
