A murder suspect in California wasn’t helping his case after he was allegedly caught attempting to steal a shopping cart full of laundry detergent on November 7.
According to the La Verne Police Department, the man was chased down by the manager of a Vons supermarket while making off with a cart loaded with 20 large bottles of Tide laundry detergent.
Corporal McKindley was patrolling the area when he saw the man attempting to flee the store and made contact with the individual.
After making the arrest, McKindley discovered that the man was wanted for murder and had a $2 million warrant out for his arrest from the San Bernadino Sheriff’s Office.
The suspect was then detained until SBSO detectives arrived and took him into custody.
A San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Office spokesman told Fox News that homicide detectives were working on the case and planned to release more information soon.
The loot of stacked orange Tide bottles, as seen on McKindley’s body-worn camera, was safely returned to the store after the incident.
“Excellent job, Corporal McKindley!” the department said on Facebook.
“Thank you again, LVPD, for doing an excellent job in keeping the La Verne community and businesses safe,” commenter Darleen Foye wrote.
La Verne is a suburb located in the eastern part of Los Angeles County.
