A 20-year-old suspect wanted for multiple warrants decided to taunt law enforcement after spotting his own photo on the Newark, Ohio, Division of Police’s Facebook page. Needless to say, it didn’t take long for police to track him down.
On May 17, Ohio native Tanner Rhinehart, using his personal Facebook account, left a comment under his wanted picture, stating, “Ya’ll almost had (me) the other day, you gotta be quicker than that.”
Later, he followed up with a bold inquiry: “What willll (sic) I get if I turn myself in(?)”
The Newark Division of Police’s Facebook page quickly became a hub of activity, attracting over 300 comments in response to Rhinehart’s daring act.
Some individuals found his response amusing and rallied behind him, while others took a more serious stance, urging him to surrender to the authorities.
According to local news outlet WCMH Channel 4, Rhinehart’s wanted status stemmed from his failure to appear at his sentencing hearing for a probation violation. Other charges have been filed against him in the past, such as in January 2022, when he pleaded guilty to felony theft in Licking County.
Despite the mixed reactions his comments garnered, law enforcement was determined to apprehend Rhinehart and bring him to justice.
On a follow-up post, the department updated the photo with the caption “captured” on it along with a photo of Rhinehart in handcuffs.
Turns out the police did not take kindly to Rhinehart’s comment.
