A Dayton police officer found himself engaged in a feathery foot chase on New Year’s Day after he was called to detain a troublesome chicken.
Officer Fader responded to an animal complaint on Virginia Avenue after reports of a chicken causing chaos and chasing people, including a girl in the neighborhood.
The Dayton Police Department shared the amusing incident on social media.
“Meet ‘Virginia’ — Officer Fader was able to secure Virginia in about a minute. The animal is unharmed,” the post’s caption read.
Body-camera footage released by the department revealed Officer Fader engaging in a comical pursuit around a house, attempting to apprehend the elusive fowl.
The video captures the chicken evading the officer’s efforts, creating a light-hearted scene that garnered attention on social media platforms.
In a X post accompanying the video, the Dayton Police Department reassured the public that the chicken, now affectionately named Virginia, remained unharmed.
The police department further mentioned that Virginia is currently under foster care until her owner can be located.
