Oakland Police Department Lieutenant Angela Campbell’s dance moves went viral on TikTok after she was filmed dancing on duty.
Campbell was working a University of Central Florida game when she saw TikTok user and dancer “lilmark 256” start dancing. She immediately joined in and showed off some of her impressive skills.
“I didn’t even know they were doing a TikTok,” Campbell told Orange Observer. “I had no idea who that was but he looked like he was having fun.”
The video has since received over 3.3 million views since it was posted on Nov. 26, and over 586,000 people have commented. In the video’s caption, lilmark 256 gave Campbell props, saying “she lit in the back.”
“She 100% passed the vibe check,” TikTok user itz.clover.official joked.
The video is lilmark 256’s most popular video on his channel, which has around 5.7 million followers.
For her part, Campbell was surprised to receive such a positive reaction from the internet community.
“People have been so negative towards law enforcement but 99.9% of the comments on here are so positive about it and that in itself has just been awesome,” Campbell said.
Campbell explained how the officers spent the day not just keeping the community safe, but interacting with and meeting people, playing games, and even dancing. As someone said in the comments, not all police are robots.
“We are not all robots, like how someone mentioned in one of the comments, we are human,” Campbell said. “It’s okay for me to love to serve my community and love to have fun also. It showed us in a different light. We aren’t just there to arrest and give tickets.”
Campbell noted that she does not plan to quit law enforcement to pursue a career in TikTok.
