A Mohave County family is lucky to reunite with their dog after she is rescued from a deep mineshaft near Bullhead City, Arizona.
The family dog “Shelby” had to be retrieved by a search and rescue team along with animal enforcement officers from the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office after she fell down the shaft near Katherine Mine.
The crew said that Shelby was moving around at the bottom of the shaft but was too far down for her owners to retrieve her. ABC News said the rescue team lowered themselves 100 ft. down into the shaft using a technical rope system and managed to secure the dog and haul her up.
MCSO Search and Rescue said in a Facebook post that Shelby had miraculously only suffered a few bumps and bruises.
“It was truly amazing that Shelby survived that fall,” the post read.
It’s not clear how Shelby managed to get herself trapped in such a predicament, but surely, she and her owners are relieved by the outcome.
