An Aurora Police Commander responded to an injured car crash victim on Aug. 17, but it wasn’t a human – it was a bird.
According to a tweet by the Aurora Police Department, Commander Lanigan was driving up to an intersection when he witnessed a bird get hit by a car. Lanigan stopped to pick up the bird and place him in the front passenger’s seat of his cruiser before transporting the feathered friend to an animal shelter.
However, he made sure to take a selfie with the bird first to document the moment.
After arriving at the shelter, Colorado Parks and Wildlife stopped by to perform a medical check on the bird and will give him any support he needs.
The Colorado Parks and Wildlife agency manages Colorado’s 42 state parks and the state’s other numerous wildlife areas.
Twitter users reacted well to the post, praising the officer and the beauty of the bird.
