A Texas man was recently caught by police carpooling with a rather bony friend in his passenger’s seat – a sure sign that Halloween season is here.
The Harris County Constable’s Precinct 5 shared on Facebook a picture of the fake, hat-wearing skeleton sitting in the passenger’s seat, with a caption joking that deputies “had a feeling in their bones something wasn’t right.”
According to Constable Ted Heap, deputies noticed a driver in the Houston area illicitly using the Katy Tollway HOV (high-occupancy vehicle) lanes during rush hour, with what appeared to be a skeleton riding shotgun.
“Our deputies saw right through the ruse and issued the driver a bone-afide citation. After a sternum lecture, deputies wished him bone voyage!” the post quipped.
According to the deputy that pulled the man over, he claimed to be a big Halloween fan and didn’t realize the lane he was in.
Violating carpool lane HOV rules can result in fines up to $500.
