A 14-year-old, described by police as a “baby-faced terror,” is facing new charges in connection with six armed robberies in the Bronx, bringing his total alleged involvement to nearly two dozen such incidents, according to sources and legal records.
The teenager, whose identity is protected due to his age, is accused of committing the crimes. In one particularly alarming case, he reportedly brandished a firearm and threatened a 12-year-old girl.
Under state law, the teenager is being charged as a juvenile, but that is not sitting well with some officers.
“He is a baby-faced terror who needs to be stopped before someone is more seriously injured and is back in adult court,” an NYPD officer stated.
His latest crime spree began around 2 a.m. on September 25 when he and an unidentified accomplice approached a victim in front of 2461 Grand Concourse. The armed teenager reportedly shouted, “If you move I’ll kill you,” before demanding, “Give me everything!” They fled the scene with three necklaces and a ring.
Later, on October 7, the teenager and an accomplice allegedly pulled up in front of 1964 Sedgwick Avenue on a motorized scooter, pointed a gun at another victim’s head, and demanded they give him all of their cash.
The muggers went through the victim’s pockets and made off with a cell phone, a credit card, a debit card, a driver’s license and an undisclosed amount of cash.
The young criminal also struck twice on October 18, first pulling a gun on a victim outside 31 East Fordham Rd. around 3:30 a.m., where he threatened: “If you don’t give me the money, I’ll kill you. If you move, I’ll kill you!”
He allegedly fled the scene with the victim’s phone and some cash.
A few hours later, shortly after 7 p.m., the 14-year-old allegedly followed a brother and sister into 212 East Tremont Ave., pointed a gun at one of the victims’ heads, and took a $5 debit card directly from their pocket.
The following day, the teenager stopped his car at 3600 Jerome Ave. around 2:37 a.m., again with an accomplice, and went through another victim’s pockets after holding them at gunpoint.
The duo reportedly stole a phone, wallet, bank cards and $2,600 in cash. They then fired several shots before fleeing southbound on Jerome Avenue, although no one was injured.
In the most recent robbery on October 20, the day the teenager was finally apprehended, he approached a victim with three accomplices on the corner of Grand Concourse and East Bedford Park Boulevard around 1:50 a.m.
According to the arrest report, the thief demanded they hand over their money, and even pistol-whipped the victim. The group made off with $60 from the victim’s pocket.
Law enforcement sources have linked the teen to a total of 23 armed robberies, but it remains unclear whether these cases are pending or sealed under youthful offender laws.
The teenager is currently held at a juvenile facility and is scheduled to appear in court on December 1.
