An awkward but funny exchange between a Mississippi officer and his boss went viral.
According to the Gulfport Police Department, the officer texted his sergeant to notify him of a small accident involving his car and a pothole.
“Hey Sgt. I just hit a pothole with my patrol car and tore the front end off,” he said in the text message.
“Are you ok?” the sergeant asks.
“Yes sir.”
“Ok send me a picture.”
Instead of sending a photo of the damaged patrol car, the officer took a smiling selfie in the driver’s seat.
The sergeant replied, “Of the damage…”
“My bad,” the officer said.
The text exchange was posted on Facebook and quickly received around 30,000 shares. Many in the comments found the interaction to be amusing and relatable.
“Great young man right there. Always doing as asked!” wrote one.
Another said, “Thank you, officer, for giving us all a good chuckle. Stay safe and thank you for your service!!”
