UIU receives ‘Top 10 Gold’ recognition

APB Team Published February 15, 2019 @ 12:48 pm PST

Upper Iowa University has announced that it has been named a Military Friendly® Top 10 Gold School Award recipient in the private university, not offering a doctorate, category for 2019-20 by VIQTORY (formerly Victory Media). Now in its 10th year, the Military Friendly® Schools list has come to set the standard for higher education institutions to provide the best opportunities for veterans and their spouses. This prestigious list provides a comprehensive guide for veterans and their families using data sources from federal agencies and proprietary survey information from participating organizations.

“Upper Iowa University has a long and proud heritage of providing for the educational needs of the men and women who serve our country, and we are honored to be recognized once again for these efforts,” UIU President William R. Duffy said. “This honor is a reflection upon our commitment to offering a wide variety of educational opportunities tailored to fit the dynamic lifestyle of today’s veterans, military personnel and their families.”

A participating institution in the Principles of Excellence and Yellow Ribbon programs, UIU has been named a top Military-Friendly School or University by VIQTORY, Military Times, and Military Advanced Education on multiple occasions. Online undergraduate and master’s programs at Upper Iowa University have also been ranked among the best online programs for veterans and service members by U.S. News & World Report.

“Flexibility is the key to educational opportunities for today’s veterans and enlisted service members, giving them the opportunity to fulfill their personal and military commitments without leaving any career objectives behind,” UIU Vice President for Enrollment Management Kathy Franken said. “Our military-based academic advisors help military and veteran students develop a program of coursework that will advance their respective goals and be reflective of their busy, and often-changing, lifestyle.”

Military Friendly Schools is the longest-running most comprehensive review of college and university investments in serving military and veteran students. Each year, the list of Military Friendly Schools is provided to service members and their families, helping them select the best college, university or trade school to receive the education and training needed to pursue a civilian career.

Military Friendly award recipients are published online at https://militaryfriendly.com and will be printed in the May issue of G.I. Jobs magazine.
