The National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund (NLEOMF) will host its annual Nationwide Memorial Run during this year’s National Police Weekend on Friday, September 27 through Sunday, September 29. All proceeds from the signature fundraising event support the mission and programs of the National Law Enforcement Memorial and Museum.
The NLEOMF Memorial Run is a flagship community event designed to unite communities in showing support for law enforcement and honoring all who have made the ultimate sacrifice. The event raises critical funds needed for the organization’s mission to honor the fallen, tell the story of American law enforcement and make it safer for those who serve. As in years past, NLEOMF seeks to raise $100,000 from the event.
Registration for the Memorial Run is now open. Donations can also be made here by searching for a participant or giving directly to the Memorial Run. Once individuals register, they can begin reaching out to friends, family and their community to seek their support and compete for fundraising incentives by raising money for NLEOMF independently or by forming a team. Participation, however, is not limited to that weekend; individuals who want to get an early start may choose to do their activity in their location any day through September 29.
“We are excited to once again host the Nationwide Memorial Run during Police Weekend,” NLEOMF CEO Bill Alexander said. “This event is a fantastic way to support law enforcement, generate excitement for our Museum that is the only one of its kind in the entire country, bolster the special programs that our hard-working staff put on and promote activity and fun for people from all backgrounds and experiences. Our hope is to see people join together for law enforcement in every community across the United States.”
All participants receive a T-shirt, medallion and bib and are eligible to win valuable fundraising incentive prizes across a multitude of categories. At any point during Police Weekend, participants can run, walk, bike or even walk their dog wearing their participant T-shirt and bib in honor of the country’s heroes in blue.
The various fundraising goal levels and prizes to win can be found on the Memorial Run page. Participants are encouraged to take photos and post them on social media using the hashtag #MemorialRun.
