New song pays tribute to “Boys in Blue”

Adam Huntington Published November 16, 2020 @ 1:19 pm PST

Singer Glen Templeton has devoted his life to music, but for the first time in his career, he has decided to release a solo-written song. He was inspired to create the song — titled “Boys in Blue” — because of his support for law enforcement.

Templeton’s talent as a singer has allowed him to build a long and successful music career, most notably as the star of a touring musical production in which he portrayed country music legend Conway Twitty. He has shared the stage with legends like Loretta Lynn, George Jones and Montgomery Gentry.

“I’ve said before that country music chose me,” Templeton said in a statement. “I couldn’t walk away from this if I wanted to because it’s not only my job, it’s my passion.”

That passion has led him to all kinds of career-defining moments, but he has never had a song that he’s written completely by himself before — until now.

In an era in which cops are under attack more than ever before, Templeton was motivated to show his support for the men and women in uniform who put their lives on the line every day.

“When I get up on stage to perform, my subconscious isn’t whispering, ‘This could be your last day on Earth,’” he said. “I don’t have to stand in the line of fire when I go to work every day, I don’t have to prepare myself or my family for the possibility that I might not make it home.”

Templeton is fully aware that he has the opportunity to live his life the way he does because law enforcement officers are there to protect him.

“I, like so many others, have the privilege of doing my job without fear, and that’s because of the men and women who swore to protect and serve,” he said. “This song is for every single officer who took that promise to heart and exemplifies what it means to be a good cop.”

While Templeton wanted “Boys in Blue” to make it clear how much he appreciates and respects law enforcement, he doesn’t view it as a political stance. It isn’t intended to be divisive or advance an agenda, it’s simply meant to shine a light on the officers who serve selflessly and honorably, with no expectation of praise or reward.

“It’s not in my nature to hold innocent, hardworking individuals accountable for another’s independent actions,” he said. “It’s my personal belief that all of us, every single citizen of this country, should want it to be the best that it can be, and I know with 100% certainty that there are men and women in uniform who we can and should count on.”

We couldn’t agree more. “Boys in Blue” is available now, and if you’d like to show your support for Templeton and his song, you can visit his website at glen-templeton.com or connect with @glentempletontour on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
