Making daring rescues comes with the job of a police officer, but even seasoned cops can be surprised by who needs the rescuing. Officers Whisler and Coughlin of the Upper Gwynedd Police Department in Pennsylvania responded to a report of a young fawn trapped in a storm drain. Thanks to their agility and a makeshift lasso/harness, the distressed and vocal baby deer came out unscathed. When news and photos of the feat hit social media, posters and the department had the same inspiration, dubbing the animal a “Teenage Mutant Ninja Deer” due to its stint in the sewer. Naturally, Whisler and Coughlin named it Leonar-DOE.
