Thousands of peace officers, family members and law enforcement supporters from across the country gathered in Washington, D.C., during the week of May 10–16 to remember those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.
This year, the names of 363 U.S. officers — 109 killed in 2025 and 254 from previous years — were added to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial, bringing the total number inscribed there to 24,775. These names were read aloud and formally dedicated during the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund (NLEOMF) 38th annual Candlelight Vigil on the National Mall on May 13. The roll call of heroes was also read on May 15 at the 45th annual National Peace Officers’ Memorial Service, hosted by the National Fraternal Order of Police and National FOP Auxiliary on the west front lawn of the U.S. Capitol, where survivors were presented with medals of ultimate sacrifice in honor of their loved ones.
Other Police Week events included the National Police K-9 Memorial Service, the Police Unity Tour arrival ceremony, the National Police Survivors’ Conference and Kids/Teens Program hosted by Concerns of Police Survivors (C.O.P.S.), and the Stand Watch for the Fallen ceremony.
