Glynn County Police Department Achieves Georgia State Certification

Glynn County Police Department Published February 27, 2025 @ 6:00 am PST

Glynn County P.D.

The Glynn County Police Department (GCPD) is proud to announce that it has been awarded State Certification by the Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police (GACP). This prestigious recognition underscores the department’s unwavering commitment to excellence, professionalism and adherence to the highest standards in law enforcement.

State Certification is a voluntary program that establishes a comprehensive blueprint for effective, professional law enforcement. Agencies achieving this status have demonstrated implementation of policies and procedures that are both conceptually sound and operationally effective. The certification process involves a rigorous assessment, ensuring compliance with over 100 standards that cover all aspects of law enforcement operations, including organizational management, personnel practices and law enforcement functions.

“Achieving State Certification is a significant milestone for our department,” Chief of Police Scott Ebner said. “This accomplishment reflects our dedication to upholding the highest standards of policing and our commitment to serving the Glynn County community with integrity and professionalism. I am immensely proud of the hard work and dedication exhibited by our officers and staff throughout this comprehensive process.”

The GCPD’s journey toward certification involved a thorough self-analysis to align departmental policies and procedures with GACP’s state-of-the-art standards. Following this internal assessment, trained assessors from the GACP conducted an on-site evaluation to verify compliance. The successful completion of this process signifies that the GCPD not only meets but exceeds best practice standards in law enforcement.

Glynn County Board of Commissioners Chairman Walter Rafolski and Vice Chairman Wayne Neal issued a joint statement addressing this achievement: “That is great news! We are proud of the work and continued effort that Chief Ebner and his department have committed to earn this certification for GCPD! Good work!”

State Certification offers numerous benefits, including enhanced operational efficiency, reduced liability potential and increased public confidence in the department’s practices. It also fosters a culture of continuous improvement, ensuring that the GCPD remains responsive to the evolving needs of the community it serves.

The Glynn County Police Department extends its gratitude to the Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police for their guidance and support throughout the certification process. The department also thanks the Glynn County community for its unwavering support and trust. This achievement reinforces the GCPD’s commitment to maintaining public safety and upholding the principles of justice and accountability.
