Racing with a purpose

Indiana State Police partners with IndyCar driver Felix Rosenqvist

Indiana State Police

The Indiana State Police (ISP) is embracing innovation on and off the track with a turbocharged  recruitment campaign powered by a unique partnership with NTT IndyCar Series driver Felix Rosenqvist. The initiative aims to attract future law enforcement professionals while enhancing public engagement through high-visibility outreach at national motorsports events.

“From racing venues in Detroit, Michigan, to Newton, Iowa, and beyond, ISP troopers are traveling alongside Rosenqvist to connect with potential recruits and share the mission, values and opportunities of one of the nation’s most-respected law enforcement agencies,” the department shared.

This collaboration, facilitated by Player Management International, places the ISP brand front and center during the 2025 IndyCar season. During this year’s Indianapolis 500 — one of the biggest sporting events in the country — the front of Rosenqvist’s helmet prominently featured the ISP shield. Making the moment even sweeter was Rosenqvist’s impressive fourth-place finish at the track, tied for the best in his career.

Throughout the partnership, it hasn’t taken long for Rosenqvist to develop a bond with the men and women in blue. Alongside fellow racer Sting Ray Robb, he spent meaningful time with the ISP family in the week leading up to the Indianapolis 500.

“Amy Bailey, widow of Trooper James Bailey (End of Watch 3/3/23) and their two children, Joseph and Sophia, came to the track to check out qualifying while hanging out with some of our troopers,” the department shared. “Felix and Sting Ray loaded them up with signed hats, shirts and other swag. Felix also showed them his helmet, featuring the Indiana State Police decal, his car and some of his other equipment. They also posed for plenty of pictures. Amy and the kids also enjoyed the view from high above the speedway from the top of the pagoda. Both drivers are definitely class acts!”

The partnership has been a great recruiting tool for the ISP as they look to fill their ranks with the next generation of officers.

“We must adapt and be creative in how we tell our story, so partnering with Felix Rosenqvist allows us to do so in a meaningful and impactful manner,” Deputy Superintendent Shea Reliford told the Fulton County Post. “This opportunity allows us to showcase the professionalism, purpose and pride of the Indiana State Police on a national stage. Felix is a strong leader who understands the importance of teamwork, persistence and hard work, so we’ll highlight our collective values to engage potential recruits who aim to make a difference in our state and local communities.”

Rosenqvist, who recently celebrated his 100th career IndyCar start and is currently tied for fifth in this year’s points standings, has embraced the opportunity to represent ISP.

“I’m honored to partner with the Indiana State Police,” Rosenqvist said. “It’s important to support those who serve our communities, and I’m proud to support their mission to find great people to join the ISP team. Leadership, mentorship and teamwork are what I value most about Meyer Shank Racing, and these are attributes also found in the Indiana State Police. We have a shared passion for excellence, so it’s a natural partnership that allows me to help tell the story about the opportunities and benefits of becoming a state trooper or a member of their support staff.”

The campaign’s message — “We meet you where you are” — reflects ISP’s commitment to meaningful engagement. At each race, troopers will connect with fans by providing recruitment information, answering questions and sharing stories that emphasize the pride and purpose of serving with the Indiana State Police.

“We’re committed to meeting the next generation of troopers, Capitol police officers and professional staff members right where they are — at events they care about, in cities they live in and through the platforms they use every day,” Reliford said. “Felix Rosenqvist shares our values of leadership, determination and service, and together, we’re creating new opportunities to connect with the public in an authentic way.”
